SQL Server, Access and Oracle Relational Databases
More recently (1997 to Present) I have focused most my
attention to SQL Server, Access, and the Microsoft Tool Set in general. I have
built numerous small, medium and large relational databases with complex table
relationships and indexes to optimize performance of a database and/or
application. My expertise lie in designing, developing and implementing web
applications that rely on a database on the backend of the web application. I
use Active Server Page (ASP) and forms to View, Insert, Modify, and Delete
data on the backend database. Dynamically querying and displaying data from an
underline database is very powerful in utilizing the Internet and I
specialize in it! Whether it is querying and displaying a companies
products, their employee information, or technical support calls, databases on
the web are often a great solution to a companies over strategy.
Centralizing the database, where you can have any and all access or add many
different levels of security so that only a select few and view or edit the
data. The options are plentiful and I would be happy to discuss those with you
in an initial Free consultation. I have helped many companies just talk it out
and find solutions to problems they have and safe time and money in doing
so.
My experience in relational databases goes back to 1990,
where I was an Oracle Database
Administrator (DBA) for the US Forest Service (1990-1995). From 1992-1995 I
instructed Oracle's SQL*Plus and SQL*Forms on a National Training Cadre. I was the
cadre leader for the SQL*Plus class for the last year and a half I was on the
team.
After leaving the Forest Service, I came to work for the Oregon Department of Corrections,
where they were just
beginning to heavily invest in Oracle products. At the time they had 7 Oracle Databases (3
Production, 2 Development, 1 Testing and 1 for Research) running on 3 different platforms
(AS400, Unix, and NT). We also had Oracle's Transactional Gateway product installed on
both Production and Development AS400s at the Central Office. While working for
Corrections, I was the backup Oracle DBA at the Correction's Central
Office. I was part of a four person "Database Team" that assists in making
decisions for the department in regards to future projects and applications. I have
training in PL (Procedural Language) scripts, stored procedures,
functions, and triggers. I am familiar with handling runtime exceptions and proactively
code my scripts with error exception handling to minimize un fore seen errors. I use
Oracle's Enterprise and other Administrator tools to monitor and repair the Oracle
databases.
